Hiwot co-founded N4ED in the quest of closing the gap of social inequities she sees occur in her country. Despite the fact that the country has been showing remarkable growth and development through infrastructures, technologies, schools, goods accessibility etc, she noticed that the poorest communities seemed disconnected with the development process going on around them.
When she found out about the impact of early childhood nutrition on a person’s potential to becoming fully physically and mentally developed, and how it played a major factor in sustaining the vivious circle of poverty, she decided to move back to Ethiopia from France and start a nonprofit that strives to break the cycle of poverty by investing on early childhood nutrition..
She strongly believes that a sustainable poverty reduction can only be achieved if future generations are fully developed and have their full potential available to learn and thrive.
