Project Overview:
In March 2025, N4ED launched a sustainable enjera-making initiative in Bethel area, to empower local mothers economically. After a long and challenging journey to secure a working space, Wereda 4 – Bethel group officially began operations with determination and optimism. The initiative is made possible through the generous support of EthiopiAid and Australia Embassy.
Objectives / Goals:
Enable economic independence for vulnerable mothers
Create a locally rooted, sustainable enjera making business
Enhance food security while promoting women-led enterprises
Target Audience / Beneficiaries:
The direct beneficiaries are sixteen mothers participating in N4ED’s economic empowerment program, selected based on their interest and capacity to manage a Enjera making business.
Methodology / Approach:
N4ED provided entrepreneurship training, food safety education, and ongoing follow up support. The mothers operate in a designated workspace using locally sourced materials to prepare and sell enjera to nearby communities and businesses.
Impact / Expected Outcomes:
Improved household income for participating mothers
Strengthened self-confidence and business skills
Community access to affordable, nutritious enjera
Creation of a model for women-led micro-enterprises
