Empowering Women and Youth Through Vocational Training Opportunities

Project Overview (Introduction)
In March 2025, N4ED partnered with OICE to provide free vocational training to selected beneficiaries from our microbusiness support program. This initiative aims to equip women and youth with practical, in-demand skills that can improve their employability and support their journey toward self-reliance and economic independence.

Objectives / Goals
The main goal of the program is to enhance the technical and entrepreneurial capacities of women and young people by offering hands-on training in high-demand trades. These new skills will enable participants to either start their own businesses or gain employment in the informal and formal job markets.

Target Audience / Beneficiaries
The training targets women already involved in N4ED-supported microbusinesses, as well as long-term beneficiaries who have shown commitment and readiness to expand their livelihood options. Eligible children of these women were also invited to participate where applicable.

Methodology / Approach
Participants received three months of vocational training in one of the following areas: garment making, hairstyling, plumbing, electrical work, or graphic design. The approach is practical and inclusive, ensuring that both women and their children benefit from hands-on learning and skill development tailored to the local market.

Impact / Expected Outcomes
This initiative is expected to increase income opportunities and economic independence among participants. With practical skills and greater confidence, women and youth are better positioned to contribute to household stability and long-term community resilience. It also expands the network of skilled labor within the community.

Time
The training program launched in March 2025 and is conducted over a three-month period.

Donor / Sponsored
This project is generously offered and sponsored by OICE, in partnership with N4ED.
