Project Overview
As part of our post-COVID-19 recovery initiatives, N4ED inaugurated a community-based condiments shop, “የእህትማማቾች ባልትና,” located in Kolfe. The shop is co-owned and managed by four women beneficiaries, reflecting our approach to sustainable, grassroots development through entrepreneurship.
Objectives / Goals
The project aims to support women’s economic independence by providing access to income-generating opportunities. It empowers participants to transition from vulnerability to self-reliance.
Target Audience / Beneficiaries
Direct beneficiaries include four women from our Entoto, Kolfe, and Kaliti programs who were economically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methodology / Approach
The initiative provided training, startup capital, and ongoing mentorship to equip the women with the tools needed to manage the business independently. The model encourages shared ownership and collective accountability.
Impact / Expected Outcomes
The shop offers sustainable income to the owners while serving as a scalable model for similar microbusinesses. It promotes dignity, ownership, and resilience among women-led households.

The shop was inaugurated as part of the 2022–2023 recovery and livelihood initiatives.
