Creating Child-Friendly Spaces: Playbox Corner at Lafto Subcity Wereda 11 Health Center

Project Overview (Introduction)
N4ED volunteers joined hands to transform the Playbox Corner at Lafto Subcity Wereda 11 Public Health Center into a more child-friendly, cozy, and beautiful space. This initiative was part of our broader commitment to supporting the well-being of children and families accessing public health services.

Objectives / Goals

  • To enhance the physical environment of the Playbox Corner for young children in health facilities.
  • To provide a safe, engaging, and child-friendly waiting space.
  • To promote positive child development through creativity and community care.

Target Audience / Beneficiaries
Young children visiting the Lafto Subcity public health center and their caregivers. The project also engaged local volunteers and creatives to contribute their time and talent.

Methodology / Approach
Volunteers, supported by local partners, participated in repainting, decorating, and reorganizing the Playbox Corner. The space was redesigned to be warm, interactive, and suitable for children, encouraging play and comfort during clinic visits.

Impact / Expected Outcomes
The beautified space created a welcoming atmosphere for children and parents, reducing anxiety during health visits and promoting community ownership of public services. It also set the foundation for similar projects in other health centers.
