Strengthening GBV response through SOP training for N4ED staff

Project Overview (Introduction)

In April 2025, N4ED staff participated in a comprehensive training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This capacity-building initiative aimed to align the team’s understanding and actions with national standards in GBV prevention and response.

Objectives / Goals

  • Equip staff with a clear understanding of SOPs related to GBV case management and referral pathways
  • Enhance coordination and survivor-centered response mechanisms within N4ED programs
  • Strengthen internal accountability and ethical practices in supporting GBV survivors
  • Build staff capacity to identify, report, and respond appropriately to GBV cases

Target Audience / Beneficiaries

  • N4ED program staff and frontline workers
  • Case workers, social workers, and those working with vulnerable populations
  • Staff involved in planning and implementing GBV-related interventions

Methodology / Approach

The training utilized participatory methods including role play, scenario analysis and guided review of national SOP documents. Emphasis was placed on confidentiality, survivor safety, psychosocial support, and ethical reporting standards.

Impact / Expected Outcomes

Following the training, staff are better equipped to respond to GBV incidents in a safe, timely, and coordinated manner. The training has improved internal clarity on GBV response protocols and strengthened the overall capacity of N4ED to integrate protection measures into its programming.
