International Women’s Day 2026: GBV & SEA Awareness Workshop at Addis Ababa University

Introduction

In celebration of International Women’s Day, N4ED conducted a half-day awareness workshop at Addis Ababa University. The session focused on key issues, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Consent, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA), and safe reporting. The activity aimed to engage university students in meaningful discussions and raise awareness of critical gender-related challenges affecting the students.

Objectives

  • To raise awareness on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) 
  • To promote understanding of consent and respectful relationships 
  • To educate participants on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) prevention and safe reporting.
  • To encourage youth engagement in gender equality discussions

Target Audience

  • Students of Addis Ababa University 

Methodology

The workshop was delivered as a half-day interactive training session. Topics were presented based on structured materials (PPT), followed by open discussions and participant engagement activities. Participants actively contributed by sharing perspectives, asking questions, and engaging in conversations around GBV, consent, and SEA, making the session highly participatory.

  • Improved knowledge of consent and personal boundaries
