Facility Upgrades and Inclusive Support to Dire Dawa One Stop Center and Women’s Shelter

Project Overview

N4ED implemented targeted improvements in Dire Dawa to strengthen services for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). The intervention focused on upgrading the One Stop Center (OSC) and women’s shelter in collaboration with the Bureau of Women and Social Affairs and the Dire Dawa Police Commission, providing essential equipment and improving service environments.

Objectives / Goals

  • Strengthen the capacity of institutions supporting GBV survivors 
  • Improve accessibility of shelters for persons with disabilities 
  • Enhance safety and functionality of OSC and shelter services 
  • Support the setup of a male survivor shelter

  • GBV survivors 
  • BoWSA, Dire Dawa Police Commission, and shelter/OSC staff 

Methodology / Approach

The intervention included providing equipment for the One Stop Center such as CCTV cameras, recording devices, and medical materials to support investigations and care. Shelter spaces were improved with accessible furniture, basic equipment, and adjustments to create a safer and more inclusive environment. Initial materials were also provided to support the future establishment of a male survivor shelter.
